Zero-Waste Design

This range was developed as a Masters of Textiles Futures graduate collection at the at Central Saint Martins College, the embodiment of a philosophy developed in Liu’s seminal 2007 thesis on Zero-Waste design. This allowed him to engineer garments pieces that fit together like a jigsaw puzzle and create no waste. This create a 15% material saving which was environmentally friendly and also had a significant commercial benefit. The collection created tailored high fashion that could compete with conventional fashion without compromise. It pioneered a unique aesthetic for Zero-Waste garments and explored many new zero-waste patternmaking techniques.
